City of Rocks National Preserve in south central Idaho has been on my list of rock climbing spots to visit for quite a while. I’d seen photos of the place long ago and I was struck by the monolithic granite that I saw.
So when my wife graciously told me to take a couple of weeks and feed my soul, recharge the batteries, and shoot some rock climbing photos. I quickly landed on City of Rocks.
After a 9 hour drive from Portland I gotta say I was immensely surprised how beautiful this place is. So I spent a week camping, bouldering, and shooting photography.
Special shout out to the fine folks at Rock City Mercantile for taking care of me with great food, beer, and provisions.
Here’s a bit of the work I shot there.
